Love Knots decorated box by Donna

Happy Wednesday!! Today I have something a little different. I decided to decorate a box with the Gel-a-tins Love Knots stamp. It's so easy to make. Just take plain box and stamp the top with the Love Knots stamp. Then I stamped the sides in the direction of the grain. When you're done, just add a bow and you have a lovely gift box that doesn't require wrapping paper. Just add a pretty bow and you're present is ready. Here are some close up pictures of the box.

Butterflies and Love Knots with Donna!

Happy Wednesday! Today I'm sharing with you a card I made featuring the Gel-a-tins Love Knots stamp. I decided to stamp the Love Knots on a craft color and use some pink and orange as contrasting colors. To make this card I stamped a Crumb Cake panel with the Love Knots stamp using Crumb Cake ink. I made the card from Pink card stock and added the orange panel and the Love Knots panel. I made 3 butterflies with a Martha Stewart punch and added pink pearls to each of them. Then I added some Thickers Letters to the Love Knots panel. It was a fun and easy card to make.

Here is a close up showing the hearts in the Love Knots pattern.

Merci card by Donna

Happy Wednesday! Today I made a card using the Wild Things & Merci Stamp Sets. I used a watercolor technique for the flowers that Tim Holtz talked about in his current online class that I am taking. He mentioned you could stamp with Distress Stains to get a watercolor effect so I thought I would try it. I used several different pink and purple stains and a green one for the stems. To do this technique you have to be able live with the areas that are smudged and not clear. That's what watercolor is like. Here's a close-up of the flowers. You can see how the colors blend together.

I thought the image was pretty enough that the card didn't need a lot of extras. I liked the Merci with the watercolor effect too. Thanks for stopping by and if you would like to see more of my Gel-a-tins projects, please stop by my blog at http://thecraftycorgi.blogspot.com

Decorated picture frame by Donna

Happy Wednesday! Thanks for joining us at the Gel-a-tins blog today. My project today is a decorated photo frame. I got a wooden frame at my local craft store. You can find these at most craft stores for about $2.

The first thing I did was sand it to smooth out the edges. Then I painted it with an Adirondack Paint Dabber in Mushroom. I used the Gel-a-tins stamp set called Wild Things and stamped the images on the frame using Black Versamark ink. It was super easy and fun project. I was looking on my refrigerator to find a picture to put in it and this was the only one big enough there. It's a picture of me with Michael Phelps at my brother's house at Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. My brother is his coach.

Distress Inks and Wild Things by Donna

Happy Wednesday! Today I'm using a new Gel-a-tins stamp set called Wild Things. I decided to use my distress inks to create this little scene. To make this card I lightly taped one of my oval Spellbinders Nestabilities to my card. I sponged on the inks with a dauber. Then I stamped in Versamark ink to make sure the images would stand out from the background. It's a simple technique that gives a beautiful result.

Here is the card with the oval attached.

Here is the stamp set. It has lots of nice silhouette images.

1. Stamp Set - Wild Things - Gel-a-tins

Thank you card by Donna

Happy Wednesday! Today I decided to use this fun stamp that comes in the Gel-a-tin stamp set called Merci. I love how graphic and fun this stamp is and how many "nice" words it has on it. I looked in my paper stash found this fun patterned paper and I decided to use this stamp with these papers to make fun "country" kind of card. It's a little different than my normal style, but I like to try everything. And, I live in South Carolina so I know what country is - trust me!

To make this card I cut a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of flowery paper. Then cut a 1 inch strip of the gingham paper, used the scalloped border punch on the bottom and adhered it to the paper. Then I tied a bow around the paper and adhered the paper to the front of a top fold card. I stamped the image on the backside of the patterned paper and inked the edges. Then I cut a slightly larger piece of paper in gingham, inked the edges and adhered the stamped image panel to the gingham panel. I adhered that panel to the card over the ribbon using thick foam dots.

Here is a close up to show the stamp detail.

Materials
1. Stamp set - Merci - Gel-a-tins
2. Ink - Not Quite Navy - Stampin' Up
3. Decorative Paper - Pebbles - Fresh Goods

5. Punch - Scallop Border - Stampin' Up

Doggie Treat Bag by Donna

Happy Wednesday!! Today I'm making a Treat Bag (this is a doggie treat bag, but you can put any kind of treats you like in yours) using the Gel-a-tins Cosmo Pups stamp set. Why do I need doggie treat bags you may ask? I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Dusty who will be turning 12 years old this month. She was born on February 29, 2000 so she's a Leap Day baby and she's looking forward to finally having her 3rd birthday!! Since she only has a real birthday every 4 years, we always have a party and invite all her doggie friends. This year, all the doggies that come will leave with their own treat bag - the one I'm am showing you today. It's super fun and easy to make and turns out really cute. Here's how to do it.

I used a 4x6 cello bag and cut a 4.5 x 4 panel and scored it at 2 inches for the top panel of the bag.

Then I made a white panel that was 4 x 3.5 inches.

I stamped on the white panel using the 2 dog bones and the small paw print from the Cosmo Pups stamp set.

To finish off the topper, I stamped the sentiment "Happy Tails To You" on a small white panel and framed it with a slightly larger coral panel. Then I framed the larger white panel with a slightly larger coral panel and adhered these to the topper of the treat bag.

I used a strip of double-sided tape to adhere the bag to the topper and one on the other side.

And, before I go, I have to post a picture of Dusty. Here's one of my favorites from her 1st birthday party.

Materials
1. Card stock - Whisper White, Island Indigo, Calypso Coral - Stampin Up
2. Stamps - Cosmo Pups - Gel-a-tins
3. Ink - Island Indigo, Calypso Coral - Stampin' Up
4. Cello Bag - Stampin' Up

Friends Furever card by Donna

This card features 3 of the dogs in the Gel-a-tins stamp set called Cosmo Pups. I thought it would be fun to have a "wall" of doggie friends "portraits" and use the sentiment "Friends Furever." To make this card I stamped each of the dogs and used the 1 inch square punch around their heads so it would look like a photograph. Then I punched out scalloped squares that look like frames around the dog "photos." I colored in the dogs with Copic markers and went around the edges of the square with an orange marker. This was a really fun card that showcases the cute dog stamps in a different way.

Here's a close up of one of the doggie "portraits."

Materials
1. Stamp set - Cosmo Pups - Gel-a-tins
2. Ink - Tuxedo Black - Memento

Doggie Valentine Card by Donna

This week I'm using the super cute Gel-a-tins Cosmo Pups stamp set. Since we're getting close to V-day I wanted to make a cute and easy Doggie Valentine card. I picked the dog that I thought looked the most like a diva. I knew she would want a blingy collar so I added a rhinestone collar for her.

I love the paw print with the swirl design so I stamped it three times and punched it with a 1 inch punch. Then I punched the larger circles with a 1.25 inch circle punch to frame the paws. I stamped the dog and sentiment on a pink panel made from Labels 18. I adhered the label and circles with foam tape.

Here is the entire stamp set. Aren't those Cosmo Pups just too cute? I love how they are so stylish.

1. Card stock - Blush - Hero Arts

CAS Happy Cupcake Card by Donna

This week I wanted to make a quick and easy CAS card with the Gel-a-tins Sweet Cakes stamp set. I was trying to think of something to use this fun sentiment with and here's what I came up with - a happy cupcake. I think if you ate one of those everyday it would definitely take the grumpies away!!

To make this card I stamped the icing in pink on white paper and cut it out. Then I stamped the bottom of the cupcake in grey and cut it out. I added two "googly" eyes and drew in a mouth and attached the cupcake to the card with foam tape. Then I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

Life's Simple Pleasures Card by Donna

I decided to make a card this week that could be used for Valentine's Day since it's coming up! I used the Gel-a-tins stamp set called Sweet Cakes. To make this card I used a dark pink paper for the back of the card. Then I cut a slightly smaller panel with the hearts paper. I die cut the circle with the scallop, placed a light piece of paper in the scallop and placed it on the hearts paper and cut the sides to fit the rectangular hearts panel. Then I stamped the sentiment on the lighter color paper and added some pink pearls. I paper pieced the cupcake and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

Then I cut a small strip of the dark pink paper and adhered it to the card and added pink pearls to the strip.

Fancy favor bag by Donna

Fancy Favor Bag with Donna

Happy Wednesday everyone!! Today I’m sharing with you a cute little favor bag made from patterned paper that I created using stamps from the Gel-a-tin stamp set called Sweet Cakes.

I used a Sizzix die from Stampin’ Up called Fancy Favor Bag. To make this bag you need a 6 x 12 piece of paper. After I got my paper ready, I picked out the four small stamps from the set - the strawberry, cherries and two cupcakes. I put these stamps on a Gel-a-tins acrylic block.

Then I stamped these four images all over my piece of pap er.

Then I colored in the images with Copic Markers.

Next, I ran it through my Big Shot and this is what it looked like.

I folded it on the lines and glued it together with a strong liquid craft glue. Making your own patterned paper is a great way to personalize a gift or card. This paper was easy to make and I found all the coloring relaxing. If you wanted to make multiple bags you could run your personalized paper through a color printer and make copies.

Stop by my blog to see other Gel-a-tins projects and say hi if you get a chance http://thecraftycorgi.blogspot.com . See you next Wednesday!!

"Wishing You A Sweet Day" Card by Donna

I hope everyone is having a great 2012 so far. Today I'm sharing a girly and glittery cupcake card with you. The stamp set I used is called Sweet Cakes and just love the all the "sweet" images in this set.

This card is 4 x 4. To make it I cut 4x4 panel of Dotted Swiss paper in an aqua color and adhered it to my card. I wanted paper with a little texture to add some interest to the card. Then I cut a scalloped circle using fun pink glitter paper and put it on the card. I stamped the top and bottom of the cupcake and the cherry on white paper and cut them out. I colored the cherry with a Lipstick Red Copic marker and the bottom of the cupcake with a mint green Copic marker. For the top of the cupcake I covered it with Frosted Lace Stickles and left it to dry for several hours. When you use this much glitter glue it takes a while for it to dry and you need to make sure it's dry before touching it or you'll put a "hole" in your glittery icing! I die cut a pink card stock circle and stamped the sentiment on the circle. I adhered the cupcake and cherry to the circle with foam tape to give it some dimension.

Thanks for stopping by the Gel-a-tins blog today. If you get a chance, come on over to my blog http://thecraftycorgi.blogspot.com for some more Gel-a-tin inspiration!

Making A "Krafty" Thank You Card with Donna

Christmas is over, the gifts have been opened and now it's time to send the thank you cards. So this week I've made quick and easy "Krafty" thank you card using the Gel-a-tins Stamp Set 3-D Alphas. Just find some patterned paper that you like and you can make a set of these in no time.

To start, I stamped the letters for THANKS on a "Krafty" paper and cut them out. I really like this striped paper so I decided to use it over the whole card. I find papers with large patterns look best if you let the paper show so I don't like to cover them up with lots of embellishments. So I cut the striped paper to fit the card 5.5 x 4.25 inches and adhered it to a "Krafty" card base. Then I cut a 1.25 x 5.5 panel of the plain Kraft paper and adhered the letters to the panel. Then I cut a 1.75 x 5.5 panel of the polka dot paper - which is the back side of the striped paper and put it in the middle of the card and placed the panel with the letters on top of it.

I hope you like this "Krafty" thank you card. Stop by my blog http://thecraftycorgi.blogspot.com to see more cards made with Gel-a-tin stamps. And, Happy New Year to you! See you next Wednesday.

Making a "PEACE"ful CAS Holiday Card & Envelope with Donna

Since we are in the middle of the holiday season, I decided to make a colorful CAS card that you can share with anyone no matter what holiday they are celebrating. To make this card I used the Gel-a-tins Stamp sets 3-D Alpha and Oh Christmas Tree. These letters are so cool and I really love the shapes of the trees. I decided to use non-traditional holiday colors to go with these fun letters and funky trees.

I just stamped the trees in different colors and cut them out. I stamped the letters in Perfect Plum and cut them out and added some purple twine above and below the letters to add a little interest. To get the twine to lay flat I dabbed a tiny drop of Glossy Accents every couple of inches so it would stay on the paper and not pop up.

Then I decided I would enter this card in to this weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge which requires a matching envelope. This card is 5x7 so I opened the envelope and measured. I cut a 6 x 3 inch piece of white card stock, stamped some trees and the Oh Christmas Tree sentiment on my white paper panel and scored a line at 1.65 inches so the panel would fit in the envelope and be able to fold evenly when the envelope is closed. It's a special touch to decorate your envelope. It makes for a fun surprise for the person opening up the card.

Here is a close up of the envelope.

Here they are together.

These are the stamp sets I used for this card.

This is a fun and easy card that you can make quickly if you need a last minute card this week. Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by my blog http://thecraftycorgi.blogspot.com to see more Gel-a-tin cards. Happy Holidays!!!!
