Damask Thanksgiving Card

I know that Halloween is this week, but I decided to make a Thanksgiving card using the amazing gel-a-tins Damask stamp set. I have always thought that gold was the perfect color to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Here is the card that I created-

Image

I used the bigger damask stamp to create the background of the card. The small damask added the perfect touch to the sentiment.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Hello! Well October is here already! And with that here in Canada it brings Thanksgiving! We celebrate Thanksgiving next Monday October 8th! I like to make a Thanksgiving card each year for my inlaws! I decided to use the Gel a Tins stamp set Damask! In the set there are two similar stamps that are leaves that are quite damask! I decided to stamp them like leaves flying around in the wind!

Image

I basically stamped the leaves over and over again in various inks, cleaning the stamps each time in between with a wet paper towel! Embossed the sentiment onto red cardstock and made a banner out of it!

So if your a Canadian like me, Happy Thanksgiving! :>

We have another guest designer today!

Today we have Chris Hurley sharing some wonderful projects with us!  Have a seat and we'll learn a little more about her and get inspired by her work.  Take it away Chris!

Hi, my name is Chris. I've been crafting for about as long as I can remember. I have been stamping for about 20 years now. I was hooked the first time I picked up a stamp! I try to get in my studio every day. I spend most of that time making cards and ATC's. I live in Michigan with my 2 dogs, Doodle and Bentley. They are spoiled beyond belief.

Thank you Chris!  Those are such fun cards!

We're getting closer and closer to the end of the month, gelly fans :)  Be sure to check out that monthly challenge and our post about Operation Write Home!

Have a wonderful weekend!

September Guest DT -- Becki Donovan-Hosmer

Happy Saturday!  I hope you're enjoying your weekend.  We've got some adorable projects from this month's guest DT member, Becki, but let's get to know her a little better first...

"Hi! My name is Becki and I live in Lafayette, Louisiana. Lafayette is in the heart of Cajun Country, and although I am not originally from here, it is definitely home now. I have only been scrapbooking about a year and a half, but I am what you would call a scrapbook junkie! God blessed me with my wonderful husband, Russ, who encourages my creative endeavors. I scrapbook to preserve moments that might otherwise be forgotten in time. My handsome husband and four spoiled rotten dogs are often the focus of my creations. Perhaps one day Russ and I will be blessed with a little one, but until then I am graced with friends who have beautiful children that just have to be scrapped!"

Now let's check out those projects!  Becky worked with our Happy Thanksgiving set and she has some great work to share!

Thank you so much for all your hard work, Becki!

I hope you're inspired and can find some time to craft this weekend!  Have a great day!

Cards to greet and cards to thank...

Hello again, gelly fans!  I'm back with more card for you today, this time from DT members Angela and Cassie.

Angela is going to start us off with a cute thank you card made with the Button Up and Many Thanks sets!

"So if one layer cards have a layer on top of the card base, then I guess this is a zero layer card! I used the Sewing Kit set, stamping buttons in a grid pattern, and added a round sentiment stamp from the  Many Thanks set to give my card a purpose!
This is a supplies-limited card - no patterned paper used, no embellishments, just a handful of inks (Close to My Heart Smoothie & Honey and Stampin' Up! Mellow Moss) and a card base."

Cassie has another card for us that she made with the Thanksgiving set.

"I decided to make a 5x5 card and to show off that fun turkey from the new Thanksgiving set. How could you eat that adorable little guy?!

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Crumb Cake, CDS Turquoise Gem
Paper: parchment, buttercream, SU Dusty Durango, SU dp
Accessories: Copics, Circle & Labels 3 Nestabilities, Open Scallop Die-namics, sponge, brown button, teal ribbon, brown fibers

We don't have much time left for you to get in your projects for our monthly challenge!  Check out the post and enter to win!

The perfect accents!

If you're looking for the perfect touch to add to your project, you really can't beat gel-a-tin stamps!  We have two projects today that have that special something, all thanks to our stamps!

I (Jessica) made this card with the new Many Thanks set.  I did choose fall colors for it, but I don't think it has to be something that I save to use during that season.  I love the choice of sentiments in this set, and all the different stamps are perfect for cards!

Paper: My Mind's Eye, Cosmo Cricket, Chatterbox
Ribbon flower: Made by me with ribbon from Michael's
Markers:  Martha Stewart
Ink: Staz-On and Ranger Distress inks
Twine:  The Twinery
Leaves:  Recollections
Flower:  Heidi Grace

Cherie made an adorable layout even more special with our Button Up set!

"I'm really pleased with this layout. I love that I was able to get four photos on the page without sacrificing title or journaling. I stamped the buttons on the journal paper and the stitches stamp under my title to emphasize the "bookworm" part of my title."

Gratitude

I hope you're all having a wonderful Thursday!  The gel-a-tinas are playing with the new "Many Thanks" set this month and I know that I'm enjoying seeing all the projects they have to share!
Cassie has our first project today, made with the Many Thanks set.  (Don't forget that this is the set you can win this month as part of our Monthly Challenge!)

"Here is another card using the adorable new Thanksgiving set. I wanted to use some vibrant colors, so that my little Native Americans would really stand out. These sweet characters just make me smile. . .so much so that I wanted them to hold hands :)"

Sharm has another card to share.  She used the flourishes from the Birds of a Feather set to embellish it!

"Here's another card I made using the Birds of a Feather Stamp set, only this time, I didn't use the Birds from the stamp set. I opted the use the flourishes and tried the different designs available in the set to serve as a flight path for the cut-out butterflies and vine for the flowers.

This set is so versatile, I have to say I love it to bits! :)

Happy Wednesday, gelly fans!

We've got more cards for you today and I think you'll like what you see!

Karin is working with the Cosmo Pups set this month, and the projects she's made are just the cutest!  Makes me want this stamp set and a puppy of my own :)

"I stamped and colored one of the cute doggies from Cosmo Pups and diecut a label with spellbinders dies from a tourist brochure I picked up at a hotel we stayed at last week. The background paper is Cosmo Cricket."

I have a project of my own for you today as well.  I used the very cute Many Thanks set on this card.  The greeting was stamped over and over on paper and layered over ribbons.  The other ribbons were stamped with smaller images from the set.  How great is it that I can use stamps make ribbon to match my project?

The New gel-a-tins Monthly Challenge!

This month we're going to start a new feature here on the gel-a-tins blog.  I'm going to challenge you to use your gel-a-tin stamps on a project in a different way every month.  You'll need to link your project up at the end of the post and I'll do a random drawing at the end of the month for a winner!

First, let's talk about this month's challenge!

I thought for this first one, I'd ask you to use your gel-a-tin stamps to make the embellishments for your project!  I think sometimes we get used to just using stamps to add a sentiment to a card and forget how useful they can be.  So, use those stamps as your main embellishment on your page!

Here's what I did for this month's challenge:

I used the Super Star stamp set to make the embellishments for this layout.  This is one of my favorite sets and I love the way my layout came out using nothing but stars and some small alpha stickers.

(You may remember from a post earlier this month that the Super Star set is on sale for $12.99 this month.  If you need some gel-a-tins stamps to use for the challenge, this is a great set to grab right now!)

I bet you're wondering what you'll win now, right?  :)  How about the very cute new Thanksgiving set our DT has been using?  Cute, right?  You'll be able to get your fall craft on!

Rules:
One entry per person.
Must link project up through the widget in this post, and project must use only gel-a-tin stamps (no other manufacturers stamps, please).
Projects are due by midnight EST on August 30, 2011.  Winner will be selected by random drawing and announced on August 31, 2011.

I hope you'll play along with us every month!  Have fun and good luck!

Feeling like Fall...

Okay, it doesn't actually feel like Fall.  It feels like it just keep getting hotter, but the gel-a-tinas are here to help!  Stay inside, turn on the a/c and check out more great Fall-themed projects to help you think about cooler temperatures and falling leaves.

Cassie made this Fall card with the Giving Thanks set.

"I was on a roll with this cute set, so I thought I'd make a CAS card with the sweet little images as the main focal points. Of course now I'm hungry for pie, and green bean casserole, and anything made with pumpkin!"

GivingThanksCTnwm.JPG

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Crumb Cake
Paper: unknown orange, buttercream, Imaginisce - Apple Cider
Accessories: green gingham ribbon, dimensionals, Copics

Angela used the Happy Halloween set to make this adorable Halloween layout.

"I had fun making this cute layout featuring my kids dressed as Star Wars characters last Halloween. I stamped the images using different inks and layered it with some fun Cosmo Cricket "Matilda" paper. I stamped the pumpkin and bat on separate cardstock and popped them up with foam tape. For the pumpkin, I first stamped it in grey ink on the page, inking a little grey around it for shadow, then popped it up. Love that big pumpkin image - it makes a great focal point!"

Fun for your whole family!

Both of today's projects were made with some of our great new stamp sets.  The Thanksgiving sets are so cute and versatile, you'll find a million ways to use them before and during the holiday.  The Button Up set is just perfect for any time you need that special button you want to add to a page, or for when you want to add the look of stitches without having to get out your needle and thread!

DT member Ellen made these pretty place cards with her kids!

"When my son, Owen, saw these little Pilgrims and Indians he got so excited! Every year he makes the place settings for Thanksgiving so that is what we did with these stamps.

AND we embossed some of them! He had such a good time embossing. And his vote for favorite scent is watermelon ;) As for me, I cannot get enough of that cute little Turkey!!!

Thankful Thursday!

Today we have some fabulous projects for you that were made with our Thanksgiving stamps.  Cassie is going inspire you first!
"As soon as I saw all the adorable people in this set, I knew some napkin rings would be perfect! They will look so lovely on our table for Thanksgiving. Just think of the fun name cards you could make to match. . .hmmm, I guess I'll have to do that ;)"

Ellen used her stamps to make this summery thank you card.

"I love love how versatile Gel-a-tins stamps are! Just because this is a Thanksgiving themed set, doesn't mean you can't use these stamps for every day "thank you" cards. You can never have to many of these cards in your stash for quick gifts and notes and this stamp set is perfect for that!"

It feels like Fall!

I'm sure you've noticed that our newest stamp sets that the team has been working with are Halloween and Thanksgiving themed.  It's never too early to start planning if you're hosting.  And if your kids are helping with the projects, you might like having the extra time! :)  I know I need it!
Ellen made this simple, but beautiful Thanksgiving card with one of our new sets.

"I love these mini stamp sets. They are perfect for creating your own backgrounds, especially for cards since the images are scaled down ."

"I used the Silhouette gable box template for this box of treats, and Spellbinders dies to create the little label. The cute cat is from the new Halloween set which I loved working with - so many possibilities!!!."

More Fun Cards!

When was the last time you had a Thanksgiving set that you could use any day of the year?  This new set is so cute that you could use it for your projects any time!  Ellen made our first card today with it.

I know I got a Thanksgiving set but I had these papers on my desk and the stamps were there, too. So I thought they would be cool as thank you cards.
