What a week!

Busy times for me!  We're coming up on fall break which means that right now it's all about half-days, assemblies and parent-teacher conferences.  Throw in a new DT to choose and you have one busy girl! :)

We have another card by Cassie today for you!  I love the Halloween set and this card is making me think about all the other projects I need to make with it for October!

"I didn't just want to use black, although I struggled not to, haha. I pulled out some navy paper, and gave it a roughed up look by rubbing the ink pad directly onto the paper. For the main panel I used my Copics and my airbrush system to get the same sort of color as the navy paper, and then I embossed the little ghost in white."

You know that I love a cute thank you card, so today's post is a favorite for me!  Check out the fabulous cards from Gladys and Angela that I have to share!

"I have so much fun stamping my own background using the Admission is Free set from gel-a-tins. They have the solid and the outline stamp of the ticket. I started off stamping the solid ticket in the middle and work my way out. Love the subtle look. For the sentiment, I used the many thanks stamp set."

I think that background paper made with the ticket stamps is amazing!  Speaking of making background paper with a stamp, Angela has something else to share...

"I love making my own patterned paper using stamps! For this card I inked the card base in Desert Sand and Black ink, using the Many Thanks set."



"I die cut a tag using paper from My Mind's Eye and a Papertrey Ink die, and stamped the sentiment at the bottom, then added a flower from Sassafras. I punched a little scallop strip using My Mind's Eye paper and a punch from EK Success. The black dotted paper is from October Afternoon.
I think the stamped patterned paper really adds emphasis to the sentiment!"

Isn't that the cutest?  I need to go make one for myself!  Don't forget, we still have the Operation Write Home challenge going on and you have a little more time to send in your monthly challenge project!

More Monday Crafting!

Hello and happy Monday to you all!  We're back with more projects for you and I know you'll be inspired just like I was when I saw these.
Karin is up first with another one of her amazing cards.  She used the Build Your Own Flourish set to make this one and I love the tone on tone look of it!

"There are many fabulous stamps in the "Build a Flourish" set and all of them work so well together - this set has actually become one of my favourites!!! . For this card I used the ornate corner stamp with purple ink on my already patterned paper to bring my card together. Then I used the same ink for decorating my little flower label. I finished with stamping a sentiment from the "Many Thanks" set which is perfect for all different styles of thank you cards!"

Angela has another card to share with us.  I love using stamps for something that's not their original shape.  Making these dimensional scallops with the Build Your Own Paisley- Floral set is a great idea.  This is such a pretty card!

"I've been seeing layered scallops all over the place lately and I wanted to try it using the paisley stamps from the Build Your Own Paisley Floral set. It worked so well! Starting with the bottom layer, I alternated colours and curled up the bottom edge, then trimmed off the excess."

 

"The thank you sentiment is from the Many Thanks set. I love how this turned out! Almost perfect."

Hi, my name is Chris. I've been crafting for about as long as I can remember. I have been stamping for about 20 years now. I was hooked the first time I picked up a stamp! I try to get in my studio every day. I spend most of that time making cards and ATC's. I live in Michigan with my 2 dogs, Doodle and Bentley. They are spoiled beyond belief.

"Build a Flourish is absolutely wonderful for creating your own patterned paper - I just LOVE it. For this card I used the Faded Jeans ink from Tim Holtz distress inks for the flowers and then went over my flowers with my ink blending tool adding the same color - which I think turned out quite nice. The label/doily is cut with my Silhouette SD and then stamped with a flower from the "Bulid a Flourish" set and a sentiment from Gel-a-tin's great set Happy Days - filled with different and very useful sentiments for birthdays and other celebrations!"

Operation Write Home Challenge!

Today we're offering up another challenge that involves making cards for Operation Write Home.  Here's a little bit about them from their website:

Our Mission:
Supporting our nation's armed forces by sending blank handmade greeting cards to write home on, as well as cards of gratitude to encourage them.
This merry band of thousands of cardmakers is made up of Americans - and citizens of other nations too - who care about our military, and want to support them through creativity and encouragement. Crafters of all ages and levels of experience have participated since 2007...and are on the way to a landmark one MILLION cards!
Care packages filled with hundreds of handmade cards are sent to our contacts, restocking every 6-8 weeks, and are sent in time for the long journey back home to loved ones. Each box is packed with great care, alternating styles, colors, and cardmakers from all over the USA, creating "eye candy" for heroes who see only khaki around them. The topper on each box is a plastic bag filled with 20-30 letters from adults and children across the country, letters handed out especially to those in need of a positive word from the homefront.

This is such a great cause and we wanted to get involved!  For the next two weeks (until October 6th) we challenge you to make cards for Operation Write Home.  There are some guide lines (check them out first) for your cards, so be sure to follow those.
We have a sketch to inspire you and we're challenging you to make fall-themed cards using this fabulous sketch by Sassy Lil' Sketches!

Dt member Angela made this great card based on the sketch...

"I used the Sweet to the Core set again and the Thanks set, and then I used the Build a Paisley set to "kiss" the pear stamp to get that great pattern on the orange pear. I then covered it with clear crackle paint.
The Thanks sentiment was stamped on twill tape that I had painted with shimmer spray and the button flower was made using one of Cosmo Cricket's enormous "Gluber" glue dots.
The paper is from Pink Paislee."

Here are some samples I made...

I use the Many Thanks set to add a sentiment and used the dragonfly from the Big and Wild Things set on the main paper strip.  I used my Xyron to cover the card in paper and all the patterned papers are by Bo Bunny.

This one was a little fancier, but I was having fun with the sketch :)  The next one is a bit more simple.

I used those same papers by Bo Bunny and my Xyron again, but I added some interest to those die-cut hearts with the flowers from the big and wild things set.  I added some lighter stamps to the paper strip again and a few misted leaves and and some foam adhesive finished this one off.

"I love the idea of having wedding cards available since we go to so many and I never seem to have a card. This Save the Date stamp is perfect!  Mix and match the circles to create your own design."

Angela has another card today that she made with the Build Your Own Paisley-Floral set.  I love all the different ways she's been showing this off!

"I went with a monochromatic look for this card, heat embossing the paisley onto a die cut using White On! Gelly powder. I then sponged ink over the embossed image. The background paper is stamped using the same colour ink and the dotted outline paisley stamp from the set."

Good Morning!

Happy Monday to all you gelly girls out there!  I'm back after a busy weekend and can't wait to share today's projects with you all!  First project today is by Gladys...

"I did a ticket for party invitation and love the little wordings at the side. I also made a hat attached to the ticket."

Isn't that adorable?  I love all the color on that project!  Our second project today is another one of mine, and there is no shortage of color on this one either!

A friend gave me a bunch of stamp pads and I had so much fun using some of my favorite cheery colors to make this card.  I love the Put a Cap on It set and I  go through a lot of thank you notes so I thought I'd make one of those with it.  I punched my caps out with a circle punch to keep them all the same size and shape (and to save me a lot of fussy cutting time).

Today is your last day to apply for our design team!  Here's the info again for those of you that may have missed it.  Good luck!

Today we're announcing our design team tryout for our next term! Here's the info for you:

What we are looking for:

1. Six design team members (international is okay).

2. People willing and able to commit to a six-month term. (November to April)

3. Stamping and embossing skills

4. Paper crafters that can really showcase our products on a variety of types of projects.

5. People with the ability and desire to promote their gel-a-tin projects all over the internet and at their local store.

Requirements:

1. Four projects per month- a mix of projects including layouts altered items and cards, not just four small cards per month.

2. Share all blog posts and projects (as well as hops and other promotions) on your personal blog, Twitter, Facebook and any other forums or sites you belong to.

3. Submitted projects require instructions and description and supply lists for blog posts.

4. Ability to take high-quality project photos.

5. Commitment to an initial webinar for an intro to the company, the owner, and to get to know the details of term. Samples of projects and expectations will be shared.

6. Participate on our DT forum and turn in all projects on time.

7. Ability to really show off gel-a-tin stamps and make them the star of your projects!

8. Ability to commit to a full six month term.

Design Team Member benefits:

1. One stamp set (minimum) per month of term.

2. Other supplies (embossing powders, etc.)

3. Get our new products first!

4. 25% discount on our other stamp sets

5. Special, exclusive stamp sets at the end of the term. One for each month that you met your requirements. (No projects are required from these sets, they are just a bonus for you to keep).

Design Team Tryout Submission Requirements:

1. Three projects showcasing stamping. We would prefer that these not all be the same type of project, but a mix of layouts, altered items and cards. Show off your stamping skills and your style! (these should each be files no larger than 500k and photos are very important! Take pictures that look professional and really show off your projects!)

2. Your name, address and phone number.

3. Bio about yourself: paper crafting history, etc.

4. Why you would like to be on our DT.

5. Links to blog, galleries, forums you participate in, etc.

6. Experience and current positions (no experience is required to make the team).

7. List of any publications your work has been in.
