A colorful safari!

It's Anita from http://craftygrldesigns.blogspot.com/ and I am happy to be here with a card today! :> Today I decided to play with the Safari Friends stamp set and make a birthday card! While I love the Safari Friends set I don't always have the time or the desire to color. Not a big coloring fan over here. My favorite way to use these animals is to stamp them in fun colors and I made a fun card today like that:



I simply stamped the animals in various inks all over the cardstock! A hint to avoid mistakes is only use one color per animal! :> Mounted the panel to a kraft card. I added a patterned paper strip behind the sentiment to add some interest to the card! And there you go a fun birthday card! All ready for a birthday party since they always seem to pop up! :>

Monkey-ing Around!

Hello, everyone! Yep, you guessed it. I just can't get enough of this cute little monkey from the Safari Friends collection. My previous card had him saying "hi!" This time, he is here to say, "thank you." And...I also turned him into a sock monkey. He is just as fun with this new identity.




To create the sock monkey look, simply stamp the image onto cream and light brown cardstock. Cut out the pieces and reassemble. I added the pointed football shape over his mouth in red. This small touch makes all the difference.

I added him to a 4x4 card. Start with a red card base. Punch a square out of the front. Add a piece of white cardstock to the inside. Adhere the monkey with a foam adhesive square, making sure he is visible through the punch out. Hand write (or stamp) a sentiment on the inside.

I added a button brad and a piece of twine for a fun closure. Simply adhere one end of the twine behind the white cardstock. Wrap the other end around the button brad. For additional detail, use a black marker with a thin point and outline the front and inside of the card.

It's a Boy!

How It's Made

Cut two contrasting pieces of paper from the Up Up and Away Stack 145mm x 110mm. Run through the Xyron 5" Creative Station and position on the front of the card. Using the 'Safari Friends' corner stamp, embossing pad and the white embossing powder, stamp the four corners of the card.



Run the Xyron mega Runner across the middle of the card and apply a lenght of satin ribbon, pleating as you go. Loop the acrylic baby soother and add to the front.



Place a second piece of satin ribbon across the top to secure and finally another thinner piece of satin ribbon. For the topper cut a matching piece of paper in an oval and use the white embossing powder around the edges. Run the topper through the Xyron 5" Creative Station and layer together.



Secure to the front of the card using foam pads.

Lions and Tigers and...

...oh my! Isn't the Safari Friends set just too cute?! It is perfect to create some decorations for a little boy's birthday party.



I created this circus tent from cut paper. I found an image through an online search to use for inspiration.
The first step is to cut the tent shape from white cardstock. Trace that onto a piece of red cardstock. Cut into stripes.
Cut a piece of black cardstock into the shape of a tall, skinny triangle. When adhered to the center stripe along with two smaller yellow triangles, it will look like the tent flaps are slightly open. Add a banner of triangle flags, and a waving flag at the peak of the roof and your big top is complete.

Stamp the lion and tiger onto orange, yellow, and off-white cardstock. Cut out the pieces and adhere together. I love to use stamps for a paper-pieced look.



Add small pieces of folded cardstock to the back of all finished items to make them stand up. An adorable idea would be to place the circus tent at the top of a cupcake carousel display. And then randomly place lions and tigers amongst the cupcakes...or use them as cupcake toppers. Simply adhere them to toothpicks.

Safari Friends

Hello! It's Anita from http://craftygrldesigns.blogspot.com/ I hope that your having a great day! I am happy to be here today sharing a card made with the Safari Friends stamp set! With Father's Day just around the corner I thought I would make a masculine card with this set!



I stamped a few of the animals from Safari Friends in brown ink onto kraft cardstock. I colored the animals in lightly with pencils, since I thought it gave it a more masculine feel! I used some pattern paper that I think is quite masculine with it's chevron pattern and colors! I wasn't going to leave the twine over top of the animal panel but when putting it together I liked the way it looked! :>

Have a wild birthday!

Once again I have used the 'Safari Friends' stamp set from gel-a-tins, for this project I decided to make a Birthday Card. HOW IT'S MADE

Cut three 8"x8" pieces of paper from the DCWV Nana's Kids Stack.
Using the decorative scissors edge each page on the right hand side
layer a different piece of ribbon under each piece and layer in a staggered pattern on top of each other



Embellish the cut paper edges with the white pen. Use different designs on each layer.
On the front cover place a piece of patterned card at an angle and trim with co-ordinating ribbon.



Using your gel-a-tins 'Safari Friends and a glue pad stamp and cover in white embossing powder create a background on a contrasting piece of paper.
Stamp the characters onto white card stock, colour with the Letraset Promarkers and cut out.







Stick the characters on top of the heat embossed outlines with foam pads.





Stick the strip of characters onto co-ordinating paper and across the front of the card using the mega Runner.



Apply the self adhesive lettering to the front of the card to make the greeting.



Add the brass embellishments to the bottom left hand side under the character banner.



Finally using the uni-ball white pen add some accents to the edges around the card to give it extra dimension.

A safari gift!

Hello! Happy Monday! I am excited to be here with a new project to share! Today I am featuring the Safari Friends by Gel a Tins stamp set! It's such a cute stamp set and as a mom to two young kids we find ourselves at a lot of birthday parties so I thought it would be fun to make a gift bag with it!



I simply stamped the animals in various colors all over the gift bag, here's a tip to make it easier stamp the same animal in the same color each time! Stamping a gift bag is easy, fun and impressive! Any time I've done it it's been a big hit! I made a gift tag to go along with it here's a close up:



I embossed the elephant in brown embossing powder and colored him in with inks, water and a paint brush! :> It's nice to work ahead so the next birthday party we will be prepared!

For a little monkey...

Hello! I hope your week is going well. I am having fun playing with gel-a-tins stamps.

My latest creation features the little monkey from the Safari Friends stamp set. He is so cute with his sideways smile and eyes looking upward. I thought he would be perfect to hold this sentiment floating among the newspaper clouds like balloons.

First, I chose a yellow and orange cardstock for the monkey. I stamped the image once on each color. Then, I cut out the full body, his muzzle, and his belly. I adhered them together on the front of the card. He is standing on a rolling hill made from green cardstock, just free hand cut with a craft knife.

Next, I cut out the number "4" and the letter "u" using a Cuttlebug Die Cutting Machine and white cardstock. I adhered them to the card, using foam dots for some dimension underneath the "4." Some string and clouds cut from newspaper complete the look.

I hope you enjoyed this project. It definitely brought a smile to my face.

Nursery name plaque

For this project I used the fabulous gel-a-tins 'Safari Friends' clear stamp set. When this set of super cute stamps arrived I was so excited to get started. Included in the set are six adorable safari animals a Tiger, Zebra, Lion, Giraffe, Monkey and an Elephant all enclosed in a funky gel-a-tins tin.. My favourite though was the amazing corner stamp that features all the animals. I decided to start with this stamp and it was the inspiration for the nursery door plaque below. This corner stamp makes excellent frames for pictures by simple rotating it. So here is my door plaque, I inserted the word 'Baby' but a child's name could be used instead to make it more personal. HOW IT'S MADE

Cut a piece of card 155mm x 105mm.
Cover in striped paper from Trimcraft animal antics stack and place to one side.
Using the 'Safari Friends' corner stamp and the black ink, stamp the image onto the top left hand corner and the bottom right hand corner of the picture frame mount board.
Colour with Letraset Promarkers
Stamp a Giraffe and a Zebra onto card stock, colour and cut out and using foam pads place on the unstamped corners.





Attach length of ribbon to the back of the photo frame mount board and then attach it to the covered card you put aside earlier.
Using glue decorate with the buttons





In the centre place a neutral piece of cardstock and insert the name of your choice. I used rub-on's just for demonstration.



So there you have it, pretty quick and easy. Play around with the stamps and have fun. If you use a square frame you could stamp all four corners for a really dramatic effect. Have Fun!

Today I have a card to share with you that I made using one of the new sets called Safari Friends.

This set has that adorable corner detail that I used to make a frame on the card background, and it has some sweet little animals that match.  I chose to add a little embellishment to this with the elephant stamp.  The sentiment was stamped with the Laugh Out Loud alpha and the White On! gelly powder.  For the elephant I used the Hawaiian Paradise scented embossing powder.
