Tuesday Feature!

Welcome back for another Tuesday feature!  I'm excited for this one because this is a stamp that I can remember talking about with the owner before she even finished designing it.  I kept telling her to get it made because I wanted it right away!  :)

It is still not just one of my favorites, but probably my actual all-time favorite of all of my stamps.  I've used it so much that it's stained (not that you can tell that when it stamps, I just have a tendency to not actually clean my stamps after I use them), and I gave up on putting it away.  it has it's own block that I keep it on at all times so that it's just ready to go. 

Of course I'm talking about Love Knots!

 

The first thing I want to show you is a layout made by current DT member Ashley.  I love the way she used the stamp on this one:

The white ink on the black background is so perfect for this layout and so different from what you expect to see in a woodgrain pattern.  But that's the great thing about stamps, you can do whatever you want with them!

Now, how cute is this magnet made by Taheerah?

Coloring in sections of the grain adds some funky color and interest.  Plus, it's a magnet!  Hello?  How fun is that?  You can definitely see from this project that hearts aren't just for Valentine's Day.

Here's a great idea for another fun and different way to use your stamps.  This project is by former Dt member Donna:

No wrapping paper?  No problem.  The Love Knots stamp is so pretty here and really dresses up this little gift.  Imagine how it would look stamped in silver or gold ink.  I would end up keeping the present and saving the gift box for later too.

I'm sure you can start to get an idea why this stamp is one that I have in my stash and at the ready at all times.  I use it on cards and projects constantly.

Thank You Gel-à-Tins

Hi everyone! How are you all doing today?

I'm very sad to be writing this post, because... this is my final post as a member of the Gel-à-Tins DT.

I've had the most amazing time being a member of this Design Team. Jessica and Bonnie have been a dream to work with and have supported me every step of the way, and I truly feel that I have grown as a designer during my term as a direct result of my opportunity here. Unfortunately life just sometimes throws up circumstances where you have to say goodbye, and that time has sadly come here. I want to publicly thank Bonnie and Jessica for taking a chance on me and selecting my for the DT, and the to thank the DT girls themselves - they are a lovely, talented bunch and I hope to cross paths with them all again.

love knots stamp for a Valentine's layout in July!

Since I don't scrapbook in chronological order, it's not unusual for me that I'm doing a V day layout. For some of you, I may seem crazy. This is the card that my boyfriend sent with my flowers from Valentine's day this year.

I wanted to use the Love Knots stamp with this layout. I stamped with tin can silver ink from Prima chalk ink onto black cardstock. Isn't it pretty?

Love Knot Tags

Happy Wednesday Gel-A-Tins Fans!  Kate here today, sharing two gift tags I created using the Love Knots background stamp. These tags could easily be used to adorn a gift box, gift bag or wine bottle.  

The background on both of my tags was created by spreading some Walnut Tim Holtz Distress Paint all over a Core'dinations CoreTag.  I swiped the paint off with a baby wipe in random spots to create an uneven, but smooth effect.  On top of this painted background, I stamped the Love Knot stamp using brown Archival Ink. 

 The "Thanks For Everything" sentiment on my first tag was stamped using the Admission is Free collection.  Again, I used brown Archival Ink to stamp the sentiment.

The "To" and "From" sentiment stamps are from Groovy Santa.  Such a fun font and perfect for this tag!

'love knots' stamp on a 12x12 page.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I finished a 12x12 layout with my love knots stamp that I wanted to share. I love this stamp! It measures about 4x5 inches x 5.5 inches.

I used three inks in sort of an ombre efffect - red, pink, orange,yellow. Here is a close up so you can see the detail better.

Love Knots Funky Fridge Magnet Frame

Hi everyone! How are you doing?

Today I'm returning to one of my all-time Gel-à-Tins favourite sets - Love Knots!

I created a photo frame with this set last year, but today wanted to give it another modern twist and create a magnetic frame with some on-trend colours:

Fun right?! And really simple to create!

I started by die cutting the Polaroid frame and stamping Love Knots on it with watermark ink. I then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. Such a stunning effect!!

Gold, coral and black is such an on-trend colour combo right now, and I wanted to recreate that so I took a fine paintbrush and selectively coloured some areas of the frame with coral and black inks. So simple and gives such a funky finish!

I finished up by backing my frame with a few layers of coaster board, taking care to trim a gap in the middle layer to accept a photo. I added some adhesive magnetic sheet to the back and voilà - a funky fridge magnet frame, customisable with your own photo!

Lovely Love Knots

Hi dear crafters!!
Today I have for you sweet vintage card with a rose.
I took few pieces of paper, distressed them.On yellow paper stamped Love Knots. Than made a composition with chipboard, buttons. flower and silk ribbon. On of the corners decorated with metal corner.

A Pretty Passport Cover!

Hi dear stampers!
Today I want to show you a passport cover!
First I stamped tree and flowers. Cut the flowers on the edge, then chose the substrate and made the basic composition, adding all the layers. In layers I added a cheesecloth.Made a sign.Decorated cover with buttons and half of pearls.

Fall Kitty Wine Glass Charm

Hi everyone! Welcome back!

Today I'm bringing you a super-cute little project using the mini Fall Kitty Gelly Jr's stamp from Gel-à-Tins! I've just been waiting and waiting for Autumn to be in the air to bring out this little kitty!

I decided I wanted to make something cute and different with this little kitty and stumbled upon this idea:



What do you think? Fun huh?!

I started by stamping the kitty onto orange cardstock and carefully cutting him out, hat and all. I then stamped him again on orange and cut just him out.



See his cute little stripes? That's the Love Knots set at work again! God I will never get tired of using this set!!



I then stamped the hat a couple of times on purple cardstock and trimmed out the hat and the brim. I used dimensional glue gel to adhere it all together so he had some dimension, and used a white pen to add detail to his eyes, tail and paws. I added a tiny bit of shading with a Copic Marker too.



To use him as a glass charm I tied some silk ribbon to the brim and knotted it with a loop at the back, then used another length of ribbon to tie the charm to my glass. Can you imagine a table setup with loads of these little kitties? Too cute!!

Love Me, Love Me Knot

I made his card in honor of my fiance. We knew each other growing up. About 6th grade, we decided to carve our initials in the tree out front of my house. Many years later, we assume those initials are still there as that tree is much, much taller.

This background stamp, Love Knots, is perfect for a tribute to that expression of our childhood love.

To make this card, stamp the image onto light brown cardstock with brown ink.

Stamp it once more using red ink. Cut out part of the heart knot and adhere it with a foam adhesive square for some dimension. Add letter stickers. I used light brown stickers and just darkened them a bit with a colored pencil.

Adhere the stamped panel to a darker brown card base.

Love Knots Polariod Photo Frame

Hi everyone! Happy September! I can't believe how fast the year's going!

Today I'm bringing you a project that is a true work of heart - one that I'm truly proud of!!

I saw a great use for a polaroid frame die out in blogland recently - someone had taken one of these to create a photo frame! Genius! I read the tutorial with interest. I was sure I could create a 'version 2.0' that would be better and have my own spin on it. And I couldn't think of a more appropriate stamp set to use than my all-time favourite Gel-à-Tins stamp set - Love Knots!!

In the back of my mind I wanted to evoke the feel of expensive wood furniture - the kind with a a mix of a cream and proper wood tones finish, glossy, modern, funky. You can tell me if I've managed to succeed:



What do you reckon? I'm so über-proud of how this turned out - completely in love with it!!



I started by die-cutting the frame from cream cardstock and cream coasterboard. I wanted quite a few layers to make the frame sturdy. I stamped the Love Knots stamp on the top layer with a linen coloured ink, inked the edges then adhered all the layers together. Between the coasterboard and final layer of cardstock I sandwiched a piece of acrylic sheet to create the frame 'glass' (the original idea didn't have this).



I hand-cut a piece of chipboard to the same dimensions as the frame front, the cut a wider gap in the top and further down than the frame aperture ended. This is to serve as the 'spacer' between the front and back to slot a photo in. Once this was adhered in place I could add the back piece/layers, cut by hand to match the frame dimensions and stamped with Love Knots as well for a cohesive look.



I trimmed a strip of cardstock to the depth of the frame and stamped it with Love Knots using brown ink. I adhered this in place with adhesive tape. Once all the layers were adhered I 'painted' the frame with Mod Podge (which I'd also used to adhere the layers) then sprayed with a couple of coats of gloss spray to give that shiny expensive look I was after.



To add the photo I measured the gap at the top and trimmed a rectangle of brown cardstock that could be slotted into the gap and have some overhang to finish the top and make it look seamless (again a modification from the original). I added a fold for the top so that the tab could be pulled in and out. It looks like a distorted 'T' shape when unfolded.



I stamped the top with Love Knots and brown ink as before, painted with Mod Podge and sprayed with gloss spray as before. I added some thin foam adhesive squares to the tab to adhere the photo in place. Before adhering the squares I repeatedly pressed them between my fingers to remove some of the tackiness, so that they became more 'temporary' - meaning the photo can be switched if desired! The photo, by the way, is of one of my sweet cats - isn't he adorable?!



To make the frame usable I wanted it to be able to stand by itself. The original idea in blogland was a piece of cardstock cut at an angle and adhered to the back, but I wanted mine to be like a real frame - I wanted a hinged stand!



I set about creating one with some chipboard and stamped brown cardstock pieces (all stamped and prepared as mentioned with the pieces above). I backed each side of the chipboard with stamped pieces and inked the chipboard edges before painting and glossing as before. I used some dimensional glue gel (for extra strong hold) to adhere a hinge in place - and my frame was done!!

Back to School cards!

Hey all!  It's Jessica here with some fun little back to school cards that I put together. 

I was thinking that it would be fun to have some little cards ready to go for when I needed to send a thank you note to the teacher or for when I wanted to put a nice note in a lunch box for one of the boys.

The elements and papers are all from a pad by Echo Park called "School Daze."  I saw it at the LSS and fell in love, so it came home with me :)

I used my Xyron to attach everything and layered some of the embellishments with some foam adhesive that I made with my Xyron.

There are some Karen Foster brads and Twinery Twine in there too.  I love the look twine adds to a card!

This is a close-up of my back to school apples :)  I stamped the solid apple from the Sweet to the Core set in red then I stamped over it with the Love Knots stamp and brown ink.  I really like the texture this added to the apples.
